Honeydew is one of the few melons that just struggles in our region. However, there are more varieties of honeydew than the pale green we're used to seeing at the grocery store. We asked Aaron of Eagle Road to try growing honeydew. Knowing this Aaron chose the variety Honey Blonde Honeydew — a yellow-skinned, pale orange-fleshed (much like cantaloupe) melon that tastes just like the pale green honeydew you know and love. He chose this variety because it's less susceptible to pests and powdery mildew, two of the major reasons honeydew is not common in our area.
