Philly Foodworks Team

The Faces Behind Philly's Freshest Food

Meet the crew making local food happen, connecting Philly's best farms and food producers to your kitchen, one box at a time.

At Philly Foodworks, we're more than just food fans. We're a team of proud Philadelphians, die-hard home cooks, fruit-and-veggie buffs, and farmers-market superfans.

We can't resist the thrill of a new recipe, love a good food pun, and think that fresh, local food should be fun, accessible, and full of flavor — and should do right by the community.

What we do is important, and I like knowing I'm putting a little bit of good into the world. Food is important to me. Being able to supply people with good local food makes me happy.

Dmitri

Dmitri

Why do I work here? I like the people! I mean, the food is great, but when you work with people who care about each other and our community and are genuinely kind, it makes all the difference.

Maria

A typical day for me starts with some upbeat tunes to keep me energized. While I'm jamming out, I'm counting fruits and veggies, building boxes, and hearing lots of laughs from my coworkers!

Dylan

Dylan

I want to be part of building a locally based, mutually beneficial food system. I'm concerned about the sustainability of the conventional system and want Philly to have an alternative should it fail.

Andrea

Shenandoah pears have to be at the top of my favorites list; I'm an absolute sucker for them. Whether eaten whole or sliced and paired with peanut butter or cream cheese, they are always delicious.

Milka

Milka

I love sharing good food with the people around me. Sharing recipes and tasty delights is my love language!

Aysen

I'm proud of the boxes distributed through our low-cost partners. It means a longer day, but it's always worth it to help get fresh local produce to people who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

Sydney

The Crab Cakes are currently my favorite item we have. Pair it with a salad, rice, and Dumpling Daughter's soy sauce. Love the goat Greek yogurt with local fruit. It's also a substitute for sour cream.

Anne

Anne

My day starts with farmer phone calls at 6 am, letting me know what produce they're harvesting. By the end of the day, I'm creating a recipe for a new reel or writing one of our market open emails.

Scott

Scott

I'm drawn to work that provides viable, pragmatic solutions to the struggles our communities face. PFW is a visionary, kind-hearted leader in addressing challenges within the food system and society.

Nat

Nat

A typical day for me consists of loading the van with deliveries that our team has expertly packed. I then head out to Philly's many neighborhoods and bring fresh food to our amazing customers!

James

James

I start my day creating routes/schedules for our drivers. Then to the warehouse to load a van with PFW goodies and deliver to our wonderful customers, whom I love meeting and building relationships with.

Chris

Chris

On a typical day, I might facilitate a meeting with our Pack Team, change a headlight on a delivery van, onboard a new warehouse partner, help a driver find a challenging address, and eat a salad.

Alex

Alex

Nothing beats nice days in Spring and Summer, rolling the windows down, putting some music on, and being out and about in the city while I make my deliveries. Every day there is something new to see.

Maurice

Maurice

I love getting to work with people who love me. People who are going to take care of me, and I am going to take care of them.

Devon

Devon

I feel it's important to work for a company with a product I enjoy eating myself. I love the fruit. Apples, pears, strawberries, blueberries. I puree it for my newborn son and he loves it.

Amanda

Amanda

Philly Foodworks has allowed me to raise my child with a great relationship to food, care for the earth, and a good understanding of why fresh produce is so important to our well-being.

Abe

Abe

I love the apple varieties at PFW and all of the different kinds of pasture-raised meats. My day starts by checking the quality of the produce, and then packing bags and bags of fresh vegetables.

Our Partners & Producers

The farmers, bakers, and makers we work with aren't just suppliers. They're partners, friends and fellow food advocates.

To our Producers
Mycopolitan Mushrooms

Mycopolitan Mushrooms

At Mycopolitan, the staff uses sustainable methods to grow specialty mushrooms for restaurants, school cafeterias and home kitchens in the Delaware Valley. They assist fledgling mushroom growers and teach the next generation of scientists and nature-lovers how to work with fungi. Their substrate originates from local saw and flour mills and, after it yields mushrooms, returns to the land as soil. Mushrooms are a staple of Pennsylvania agriculture. Mycopolitan is Philadelphia's mushroom farm.
