Welcome to Our Community!

Hello everyone! My name is Dylan, and I am the founder and CEO of Philly Foodworks. I want to extend my sincere gratitude for believing in our mission to support local food and for joining us on this exciting journey. I’d love to share a bit about the passion that fuels our work every day.

Since our establishment, Philly Foodworks has been devoted to fostering a flourishing local food system in the Philadelphia area. Our mission is to support local producers in building this system and make it as easy as possible for consumers to savor the delicious, high-quality food that our region has to offer.

We believe that the industrial food system is not only unfair but also unsustainable, presenting us with a risk of collapse. The commodification of our planet and its precious resources threatens the very environmental and social fabric of our communities. Food represents more than mere sustenance; it forges vital connections to our planet, ourselves, and one another. We are committed to nurturing a sustainable local food ecosystem while fostering meaningful relationships with the food we consume and the people who produce it. Tackling this crucial challenge is at the very heart of what we do.

Having begun our journey as urban farmers, we witnessed firsthand the farming community's challenges. Producers often struggled to share their wonderful offerings, while consumers sought easier access to farmers' markets and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs.

Recognizing this need for positive change, we proudly launched the Philly Foodworks online market in 2014. Since then, we have tirelessly worked to bring more local food into the homes of our community. We envision a future where the majority of the food we enjoy is sourced from within 150 miles of our homes. Our online market is just one of the many exciting steps we are taking toward making that vision a reality.

When you shop with Philly Foodworks, you are not just purchasing food; but supporting a vibrant local food network. Your contributions play a crucial role in providing essential resources such as greenhouses, trucks, coolers, and seeds to our farmers and funding farmer education and crop planning initiatives. We’ve been able to help our farm partners in Honey Brook by assisting them in becoming an aggregation hub at Riehl Family Farm. They now manage the cleaning, packaging, and distribution of fresh produce from twelve local farms. When you shop at Philly Foodworks, you help increase food access to our local community and create an environmentally sustainable food system.

Your support is invaluable in keeping our local food economy robust and thriving for years to come. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being an essential part of our journey and for your unwavering belief in building a vibrant local food system in the Philadelphia region.

Warm regards,
Dylan
