One of the core pillars of Philly Foodworks is access to healthy food for all. We recognize that many people are struggling to provide quality healthy food for their families. We know that the economics of our food system make high quality food more expensive and inaccessible for some. This is why we work with our customers, producers, and network of community organizations to increase access to healthy, local food for all.

We increase food access through three main avenues:

Weekly food donations: Did you know that every month our customers donate over $1,500 of locally grown, nutrient rich to families in our community?

You can be part of this movement too! Here are two ways you can make donations on your account:

You can add a one time or recurring donation to your account from the check out page:

If you set your donation to be recurring, you will only get billed when you place an order.

Skipping a week? When you skip your delivery you have the option to donate the value of your order to a family in need. To skip an order click the “skip delivery” toggle below the “update order” button:

You will then be presented with pop-up that allows you to donate the full or partial value of your order:

When you donate, we use the funds to buy products from our local farmers and to support community organizations. Some of the organizations we work with are:

2. Low-income farmers market - Every Friday from Mother's Day to Thanksgiving, we set up a farmstand in front of our warehouse at 20th and Hunting Park in North Philly. Prices are kept affordable, and we accept SNAP payment as well as take Food Bucks, which are $2 vouchers customers get for every $5 they spend in SNAP dollars.

More than just a resource for affordable, local, healthy food, we also serve as a community meeting place where neighbors can hang out, enjoy our complimentary mint water, share stories and laughs, and learn how to support one another. During the winter, we invite our market shoppers and neighbors to join us for monthly art classes!

3. Low-cost produce boxes - We partner with area organizations that raise funds to purchase food boxes for their program participants. We offer the food at a 25 -30% discount and handle all logistics from packing to delivery. Some of our partners include:
